Trojans defeat Hunters in final game

RaceLeonardDuluth Central defeated host Duluth Denfeld 69-67 Tuesday night in the final game between the traditional high school boy’s basketball rivals.

Denfeld trailed 38-29 at the half, and a late Hunters’ second-half run fell short.

Race Leonard led the Hunters with a game-high 21 points — including seven three-pointers — and C.J. Ham and Cory Bolen scored 11 apiece.

Andrew Laughlin had 15 points and Jodeston Robinson and Ben Poppen added 14 each for the Trojans.

Duluth Central improved to 10-14 overall and 6-7 in the Lake Superior Conference. Denfeld fell to 7-18, 5-7.
