Media Report: Minnesota misses out on millions for education

Minnesota is out of the running for up to $250 million in federal money for school reform, the StarTribune.com is reporting.

The state was not one of 16 finalists named by U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan on Thursday in the “Race to the Top” competition for $4.35 billion in stimulus funds earmarked by the Obama administration for education.

The defeat deeply disappointed educators who saw it as the only chance schools had to receive new money in upcoming years, and officials were already pointing fingers over who is to blame. Read more.
